What does your ideal future look like? It’s a big question and one often asked when the ground beneath you has shifted. For many professionals, it is easy to tie your identity to your career… until that career is no longer there.
Building your ideal future does not require all the answers. It begins with asking better, deeper questions; the kind that reconnect you to your values, your rhythm, and your possibilities.
A Quick Story: One of my clients, a sharp, driven woman was unexpectedly retrenched from a high-level corporate role. She had spent over a decade climbing the ladder and had poured everything into her job. Then, just like that, it was gone.
She told me, “I don’t know who I am outside of my work.” She was not lazy, unskilled, or directionless, just disconnected from herself beyond her title.
In our coaching sessions, we did not jump into action plans. Instead, we slowed down and began with questions.
From there, her vision began to rebuild: this time, with clarity and care.
10 Questions to Build Your Ideal Future
- What do I want more of (not just less of) in my life?
- When do I feel most alive, clear, or connected?
- What does “enough” look like for me (in money, time, and energy)?
- If no one needed me today, how would I choose to spend my time?
- What would my 80-year-old self thank me for starting now?
- Which habits and people truly nourish me?
- What am I afraid to want and why?
- What would I create, change, or leave behind if I trusted myself more?
- Where am I still performing instead of belonging?
- What legacy do I want to leave in both work and relationships?
Your Next Step: When one chapter closes, another asks to be written. The pen is in your hands and these questions are your ink.
